TALLAHASSEE, FL -- The FSU Homecoming Fall 2021 Executive Council announces the official week of schedule for the 73rd annual Homecoming celebration, Channeling Tradition, that will detail each event and its associated date and time. *ALL EVENTS REQUIRE VALID FSUID FOR ENTRY*
The FSU Homecoming Council is proud to present both an innovative and exciting week of events that provide a warm welcome for those returning to FSU as well as newcomers experiencing Homecoming with us for the first time. This year, the FSU Homecoming Council has worked extremely hard to channel both new and classic traditions for participants while ensuring a safe and comfortable experience for all students, faculty and alumni. The FSU Homecoming Council invites everyone to attend and enjoy the following week of events from October 18 to 23.
Spirit Night will kick off the Homecoming celebration on Monday, October 18 by providing an exciting evening where students can enjoy and celebrate their love of FSU. Located on Landis Green, this event will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. where you will find a curated selection of performances, musical entertainment, food, and the presentation of the Biggest Fan on Campus award to one lucky FSU student. To end this event, a short firework display will commemorate the start of Homecoming week, starting at 9 p.m.
Search for a Cause will follow on Tuesday, October 19 from 2 to 5 p.m. on Landis Green where students can interact with various organizations from all over campus and the Tallahassee area. Participating groups will share information on ways to join service groups and how to give back to our community. Those that complete the event will receive food, drinks, and an opportunity to obtain Homecoming merchandise to celebrate their interest and commitment to upholding FSU’s tradition of giving back.
Hosted on Landis Green from 1 to 5 p.m. Seminole Festival aims to entertain and excite students on Wednesday, October 20 with its many attractions, carnival-style food, exclusive Homecoming merchandise, amazing sponsors, and friendly RSO’s. The Ultimate Obstacle Challenge, unlimited cotton candy, and an interactive tie-dye station are just a few of the options given to attendees. This event allows all fans of FSU to celebrate school tradition and promote campus partners by enjoying all that is offered here at Florida State!
Chief and Princess Voting will also be taking place on Wednesday on our website, homecoming.fsu.edu, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is a chance for students, staff and alumni to choose who they want to represent FSU Homecoming this year! Homecoming Chief and Princess candidates' names and bios will be posted to help you decide this year’s winners.
Odds and Evens will incorporate a twist on its traditional field day style on Thursday, October 21by featuring an opportunity for participants to partake in both recreational games and fitness attractions on Landis Green. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Giant Jenga, Giant Connect 4, cornhole, spikeball, crossnet competitive games, and a rock wall will all be provided for those who choose to attend, as well as group fitness classes hosted by Campus Recreation. Refreshments and snowcones will be offered throughout this event as well as Homecoming merchandise!
The FSU Homecoming Parade will start Friday, October 22nd off by celebrating student organizations and members of the FSU and Tallahassee community, such as the Marching Chiefs, the Flying High Circus, Golden Girls, and royalty of the Seminole tribe. From 2 to 3 p.m., the parade will commence at the Tucker Center and end at Westcott Fountain. Decorative floats, jaw-dropping performances, and the Homecoming court nominees will pack this event as onlookers can enjoy many celebratory features of Florida State.
Homecoming Live will wrap up Friday night in an exhilarating way where spectators can enjoy a pep rally featuring multiple student-performance groups as well as an unforgettable performance by headlining musical artists, Grouplove. Located at the Tucker Center, Homecoming Live will be a 2-hour event starting at 8 p.m. where doors will open at 7 p.m. for seating. Attendees will also witness the crowning of FSU’s 2021-2022 Homecoming Chief and Princess and the announcement of the winners of each Homecoming competition participant category!
The Garnet and Gold Tailgate will precede FSU’s football matchup against UMass, starting two hours before kickoff. Located by Heritage Fountain, the event will celebrate an annual Florida State tradition while channeling a victory for the FSU Seminoles! Food, music, and promotional items will be available for students with FSU ID.
FSU Homecoming Council is so excited to bring everyone together again for a uniting return after the challenges of COVID-19 over the past year. About Florida State University Homecoming
The Homecoming Executive Council consists of students who plan events for the FSU campus and community each year. Each position within the council helps in coordinating events which involves working with volunteers and student groups, managing communications, and seeking sponsorships. The Homecoming celebration consists of a week of on-campus events including but not limited to the Homecoming Live pep-rally, Seminole Festival, Odds and Evens, Search for A Cause, Parade, Chief and Princess Elections, and the Garnet and Gold Tailgate. The week ends with the Homecoming football game at Doak Campbell Stadium.
